The Preston Madhatters Collective
started in 1999 Millennium Eve; the rest is history!
We are are now seven years old and have countless parties
under our belt. The web site has been running since 2004.
This happened with thanks from our small crew, and a regular
following of Madhatters.
Crew intro - We are peeps that assist and make dreams come
true.........we are generally a fluid bunch (with some regulars)
and no help offered is turned down and the reward? To be
part of something that we all believe in, namely, partying
and having fun. The great thing about being part of the
collective is having ideas and implementing them, at the
next event and seeing the results. We learn lessons from
things that don't go to well and by doing this, we can adapt
for the future. As with any (ad)venture, there are highs
and lows, the highs tend to be around holding a great event
where people leaving are asking when the next one is.......this
is truly the best immediate feedback and means that we do
the cleaning, carrying, fetching, calming and erecting with
a smile on our faces too. We love it.......
The crew has changed a few times, but the core stay the
same. We have:-
Lettie who
is a control freak (self confessed). She runs the Hatters
with husband DJ Clumsy. Together they make sure that the
parties are kept attitude free; this is the only rule they
have. They don't do bad attitudes. Madhatters has always
been a labor of love(obsession), for these two. It has proven
to be infectious.
DJ Clumsy
multitasks for the Hatters. He has been our resident for
the last 7 years, along with DJ Marra. In the past Clumsy
also had a residency with Megadog @ The Music Box in Manchester.
He plays Hard house, Techno & his new love Break beat.
His aim in life is to fill the dance floor and have it banging
basey and very bouncy.

DJ
Marra has shared the residency of the Madhatters
since the very first party. He has played countless party's
in and around the North West including residency's at Club
Solid (Preston) and the Music Box (Manchester) with the 'Hatters
and plays anything from Techno to Breaks and all in between.
Build it up.......Tear it down!!!
Hippy Chick,
wife of DJ Marra, again in from the beginning! You will always
find her in the kitchen at parties!
Tree Hugger
should be called smiling tree. She is the one who is always
smiling and a source of endless encouragement for the Hatters
team.
Humphrey - there
for every thing. She makes the kitchen and behind the scenes
run oh so smoothly.
Dj Nick Almond (Slice)..been DJing for 16
years from acid house to techno, He also writes techno and
tribal house for 10 years and had 3 releases on his own label
(Method Recordings). Last year he moved over to DJing with
the laptop (Ableton live) using a Beheringer controller for
the midi movements....
Jellybean -
she is part of our younger crew and is there before all the
parties to help out. She helps at home too. All the signage
around the place is put there by Jellybean. She also DJ'd
at Palgowan in 2005 on a sunny sunday afternoon - happy dayz
Jellybean!
DJ Smee, with
us for years; his help, generosity and advise is legendary.
Never gets anxious and always has an answer to most problems,
top bloke!
The list goes on, advice comes in many forms, and we take
it all on board thanks to Mick, Marc and the rest of the Madhatters
crew. |
